What was it?
The Bosign Hi-Tech Tablet Pillow used a bead-filled base to adapt to uneven surfaces and a non-slip upper support for an iPad or tablet. GoodHomes included the £29.99 product in its October 2012 technology sourcebook.
Design and usefulness
Unlike a rigid stand, the soft base could settle onto a lap or duvet. That flexibility is still attractive, although today’s devices, cases and viewing-angle expectations may differ from those of 2012.
What worked
- Works on soft and uneven surfaces
- Non-slip support
- No hinges or electronics to fail
- Documented contemporary press review
Points to consider
- Bulkier than a folding stand
- Older bead filling may compress
- Fit should be checked with modern device sizes and cases
Buying or collecting one today
Check seams, filling distribution and surface grip. Make sure the viewing lip does not press against buttons or cover charging ports on a current device.
Hirst & Hirst verdict
A sensible early-tablet accessory whose basic ergonomic idea remains useful.
