What was it?

The board printed a ruler and square grid over the chopping surface so ingredients could be cut to more consistent sizes. Your Home included it in a 2012 selection of ten chopping boards and recorded a price of £16.50.

Design and usefulness

Its title is intentionally comic, but the measurement markings address a real cooking issue: evenly sized ingredients cook more consistently. The visual language resembles technical drawing paper rather than conventional kitchen decoration.

What worked

  • Grid has a practical purpose
  • Affordable original price
  • Easy gift for keen cooks
  • Contemporary press source survives

Points to consider

  • Printed markings may wear
  • Archive does not confirm dishwasher suitability
  • Product name uses language some readers may find dated

Buying or collecting one today

On a used board, prioritise deep knife scoring, warping and food staining over the condition of the printed novelty graphics.

Hirst & Hirst verdict

A good visual joke backed by a genuinely useful measuring grid.
