Archive review: This retrospective assessment uses surviving Hirst & Hirst records and contemporary press material. It is not a claim that the product is currently stocked or newly tested.
What was it?
Snowden Flood’s mug designs used simplified silhouettes of London landmarks, bridges and city scenes in blues, greens and muted neutrals. Hirst & Hirst stocked the range and Bella selected it for a city-themed feature.
Design and usefulness
Each mug uses a limited palette and wraps the illustration around the cylinder. The designs feel closer to architectural graphics than novelty souvenirs, which helps them work as a mixed set.
What worked
- Distinctive landmark artwork
- Usable as individual mugs or a mixed collection
- Designer attribution is documented
- Strong gift and souvenir crossover
Points to consider
- Exact capacity and dishwasher guidance are not preserved
- Older transfers may fade
- Surviving image is a press clipping
Buying or collecting one today
Inspect the rim and handle for hairline cracks, then compare print saturation between mugs if buying a group.
Hirst & Hirst verdict
A smart alternative to generic London souvenir mugs, with real graphic discipline.
