What was it?

The series depicted the six Bond actors known at the time as individual first-class-stamp-inspired prints. They were offered individually as limited editions, with a postcard-format framed set also planned.

Design and usefulness

Repeating the same frame and portrait structure across six colour treatments gives the series coherence. A single print works as a small pop-culture reference; the full group has much more visual impact.

What worked

  • Clear six-part collecting concept
  • Consistent graphic system
  • Original archive photograph survives
  • Works individually or as a set

Points to consider

  • A complete matched set may be difficult to find
  • Later Bond actors are naturally absent
  • Verify edition and authenticity when buying second-hand

Buying or collecting one today

Check that colours have faded evenly and that edition markings match across a claimed set. Misaligned frames will weaken the grid effect.

Hirst & Hirst verdict

A neat collector’s concept with enough graphic restraint to work as a complete gallery wall.
